First Snowfall

December 20th, 2010

sweater: Express (men’s), scarf: Target, skirt and headband: Anthropologie, coat, tights, and gloves: Urban Outfitters, boots: Frye

Worn For: I wasn’t going to take photos yesterday, but I took a look out the window and we finally had snow! Not much - just a light dusting, but I was excited. So I ventured as far as our porch steps to take some photos.

Looking at this, this is  definitely my essential winter outfit. I love everything about it. First off, It is (again) my favorite color combo. Probably because it reminds me of home and our beloved Sabres. But either way, I will never get sick of blue and yellow. On top of that, throw in my new favorite winter wear - a big cozy sweater (again stolen form Boo’s closet), a fuzzy scarf, and leather boots to keep my toesies warm. I live in only boots for about 4 months out of the year. So be prepared. And then, to top it all off, a cute little girly bow in my hair makes it very me. Hi, I’m Holly :)

Can I love in this outfit?

Mustard and Pink

December 19th, 2010

cardigan: Victoria’s Secret, tee: JCrew, skirt: American Apparel, tights, hat and shoes: Urban Outfitters, gloves: Coach

Worn For: Last night we traveled out to see Boo’s college roommate who was having a little family christmas party. We ate some food, saw some old friends, and and had a good time.

Morgan at Morgan and Lua had been wearing a lot of pink and mustard-y combinations not too long ago, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. Thats when I found this tee scrunched up in my drawer, and I thought it would be a good candidate. Overall I think the outfit came out pretty well. Cute but comfy.

Black and Blue

December 17th, 2010

dress: Ray Cassin via Buffalo Exchange, cardigan and tights: U.O, shoes: Steve Madden

Worn For: I wore this out for mine and Boo’s weekly dinner date. To be honest, I was having a little bit of what Kendi calls a mirror vs. camera complex. I got this dress the other day at Buffalo Exchange. It seemed pretty perfect to me - Big ruffle at the bottom, girly bow up top. Just what I like. But I didn’t try it on. I mean its not fitted so it shouldn’t be a problem. And to be honest, I didn’t feel like shedding my eight layers just to try on one dress. Even as I put it on to wear yesterday, I thought I looked pretty cute. The mirror told me - Hey, this dress is girly and adorable and it looks pretty good on you.

Then I looked at these pictures. In these photos, I feel like I look a bit disheveled. The dress doesn’t look the same as it did in the mirror, and why, oh why is my slip hanging so far out on one side? My hair? Oh my hair. My bangs have gotten to that awkward length where they are constantly in my eyes and I am too chicken to trim them myself. So I pinned them back at at last minute. Ugh.

Well, as you can tell I’m not so thrilled with this outfit or these photos. But hey, the food was good, the night was good, and I am going to stop complaining now.

Got My Mind Set On You

December 15th, 2010

swaeter: Ann Taylor Loft via Buffalo Exchange, tee: gap, scarf: ?, headband: Anthropologie, jeans: BCBGeneration, booties: Keds via Buffalo Exchange

Worn For: I wore this outfit to finish up my christmas shopping and get some groceries as well. It was one of the coldest days in Boston yet (but still no snow, boo). My philosophy is: if it is going to be this cold anyway, there might as well be snow. If I have to freeze I at least want the pretty white powdery snow at my feet. Just sayin’. Well, I’ll be heading back to Buffalo in a week and I know they have plenty of snow.

I got this sweater and shoes at Buffalo Exchange the other day. I purposely got the sweater two times too big for me, because thats the way I like my sweaters :) Overall I’d say this outfit is pretty me - girly color, bow in the hair, and super fun shoes!

P.S - I spy my chapstick in my pocket! haha. I spent all day digging through my purse and in the couch cushion for it. And at the end of the day I’m  mediting these photos and hey, whatda know - there it is! Typical.

Boyfriend Sweaters and Christmas Colors

December 15th, 2010

sweater: Express (from Boo’s closet), chambray shirt: Forever 21, knit dress: H&M, tights: Anthropologie, shoes: Moschino Cheap and Chic

Worn For: Wow, look at me and my christmas colors. Not intentional, but I like it. I’ve really been lusting over some oversized, cozy boyfriend sweaters for this winter. But wait a minute-  I don’t need to go out and buy boyfriend sweaters. I have a boyfriend, and he owns sweaters. Ta daaaa! Problem solved.

I did a little christmas shopping during the day, and then cuddled back up on the couch to catch up on some shows with Boo. It was a good day.

Swiss Army Romance

December 11th, 2010

top: Dimri… via Second Time Around, cardigan: JCrew, jeans: Gap, belt: ?, flats: Irregular Choice

Worn For: Last night was such a good night you guys. We went and saw Dashboard Confessional in Boston. A.Mazing. It was the 10th anniversary tour of the Swiss Army Romance album, so it was just Chris and his guitar. The entire show. No band, just Chris.  Just how it used to be, and just how it should be. And I always love Dashboard shows because It is always a giant sing a long. Its so great.

We got there early and were some of the first in line so we got right up front on the gate! Dashboard is the only show I will do this for. Anyone else I have no problem hanging out in the back. But for Chris, I always, and will always stand outside in the cold to be as close as possible. And close we were. At one point I turned to Boo and said ” We’re so close, I could reach out and….”, and Boo finished “strum his guitar.” Well, I was going to say something a little different, but we’ll stick with that.

This is a beautiful man:

Business As Usual

December 10th, 2010

coat: DKNY, sweater: Express, henley and tights: Urban Outfitters, skirt: American Apparel, gloves: Coach

Worn For: I’m officially done with the 30 for 30 remix challenge! woohoo! I think it was definitely a success, but I’m very happy to get reacquainted with the rest of my closet. It all feels like new! like I’ve been shopping :)

I wore this out to our weekly dinner date night with Boo. These tights got a little lost somewhere in the mess that is our room. But now that I’ve re-discovered them, I want to wear them with everything. I love the look of the stripes with the leopard print. Mixing prints is something I want to play around with a lot more.

Don’t forget I added this blog to bloglovin’, so follow along!
