My Orchestra Skirt

January 11th, 2011

sweater: Gap, scarf: H&M, skirt: uuuuh… ? , flats: Target, ring: Gift from my Momma

Worn For: I’ve finally got my butt in gear and started working on some new projects. So today was spent sewing and pattern making. Soon, I’ll have new stuff up in my etsy shop, as well as a some Project ReStyle items. Buuuut, I figured I should get around to doing another outfit post, so I took a break, grabbed my tripod, and headed to the park again.

Funny story about this skirt. Well, not really. But it is to me. I mentioned a few posts ago about how I went through some old clothes that were in storage while I was home. Thats where this skirt came from. It was my orchestra concert skirt from high school (yeeeeah, I said orchestra. I played the viola. I was sooo cool). In high school, I hated wearing this thing. I despised it. I though it was the ugliest thing in my closet. But when I pulled it out of that box a few weeks ago I was so happy! Now, I love it - I want to wear it with everything. Funny.

Adventures In Layering

January 8th, 2010

printed shirt: Anthropologie, chambray shirt and hat: Forever21, tee: Gap, jeans: BCBGeneration, mittens: gift, necklace: custom made, boots: Vince Camuto via Macys

Worn For: My bff Ashlee was in town! Boo and I met up with her and her boyfriend and a couple of his friends for some bbq. I haven’t seen her in forever so it was a really nice night.

But to the outfit. I like to layer. who doesn’t, really? Especially in this winter weather. But I’m not sure about my combo here - I took a chance. I still don’t know how I feel about it… I’m on the fence. Is it an odd combo? An odd order? I don’t know. But I kinda like it. Besides, it is all about trial and error.

See this picture here ^ ? This is when Boo was complaining about something that had to do with my posing/taking my picture. And this is me telling him, with a shake of my mittened finger, that his job is to be quiet and just do what I tell him to.

jk.

not really.

Old is New

January 7th, 2011

vest: Urban Outfitters, tee: Gap, skirt: American Apparel, tights: Target, shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Worn for: Friday night date :)

Ok, so really don’t have a good excuse for not going out and taking pictures today. I was just lazy. Lazy and warm and cozy inside, and it was really cold outside. So, HEY! Meet my bookshelf!

This vest is kinda old. And I had actually gotten rid of it at one point- or so I thought. When I was home for christmas I found a few boxes of old clothes of mine in storage. I went through and actually pulled some things back out to fit back into my wardrobe. It was like shopping! Kind of…..

But I like the vest. It adds a little bling to an otherwise pretty basic outfit. And the skirt - well I’ve owned this skirt in navy for awhile now and it is one of my favorite and most easy to wear skirts. So I bought it in green too. Is that a faux pas? I don’t think so. Its practical :)

Brave New Girl

January 5th, 2011

sweater, shirt, and pants: Urban Outfitters, headband: Hollydoll (made by me!), gloves: gift, flats: Chanel

Worn For: sewing/cleaning, etc.

I’ve been taking my own photos with my tripod for awhile now, but I usually don’t venture far from our house unless I have Boo with me. But today I took my camera and my tripod and went to the park by myself. And it actually wasn’t that bad. I found a pretty secluded spot where I only had a couple people walk by and stare. I should do it more often.

I’m wearing almost all Urban Outfitters. Not only that, but I got all the items on the same day. Weird. But seriously, remember those overalls I got for $5? I also got this plaid shirt for $5, and the pants for $14. Woo me :)

Simple Outfit For a Simple Sunday

January 2nd, 2011

dress: Modcloth, headband: Hollydoll by Holly Keenan

Worn For: Boo and I had a nice relaxing Sunday consisting of a walk to the park, movies on the couch, and a little bit of Wii playing.

I got this dress for christmas from my momma and I’m pretty sure I now own the perfect maxi dress. It comes all the way to my feet (I really hate when a maxi dress only reaches my ankles - I’m not really that tall). It is also suuuuper soft and comfortable. Like wearing pajamas. Which is perfect for a day spent mostly lounging :)

overalls, tights, sunglasses, and turquoise necklace: Urban Outfitters, owl necklace: gift from me momma, shirt: French Connection, booties: Keds via Buffalo Exchange

Worn For: Boo and I had a nice day walking along the river and grabbing some lunch at Za. It was a beautiful day!

So, I look at a lot of style blogs. And I see a lot of inspirational outfits daily. But every once in awhile, one really sticks - and I just can’t get it out of my head. Recently that outfit was worn by Claire of Faboo. I am so in love with this entire dress, that when I saw these overalls in Urban Outfitters bargain basement for $5 ($5!!!), I knew I had to try it. Now granted, Claire looks incredibly cool and chic and I just look like an 8 year old, but I’ll just pretend thats the look I was going for.

Happy New Year!!

December 31st, 2010

dress: Anthropologie, tights: Urban Outfitters, shoes: Steve Madden, ring: gift

Worn For: The Boo and didn’t really have big plans for this NYE, so I opted to not go with the typical sparkle for this night. But we did go out to a nice dinner ( and if by chance you are in the Cambridge/ Somerville area I highly suggest checking out Posto), and I though this dress was perfect for this occasion.

And my goodness these pictures are more like it! I mentioned before, but I definitely hope to take better pictures in better locations like these ones this new year. My other new years resolutions? Getting my butt in gear with my Etsy shop. I have beginnings of a lot of projects that I need to get together and up for sale. Oh, and a third - get a job. That would be nice.

Happy New Year everyone!
