DIY : Hair Combs

Have you seen this DIY floating around pinterest? I’ve had it pinned for awhile, and have been dying to make one. I finally got around to it!

IMG_7014

Its incredibly simple. All you need is:

*hair comb (you can get a whole pack of them at the drug store)

*embroidery floss

And voila! All I did was wrap the floss around the teeth in a v shape. And then repeat. Its incredibly simple, and only took about 15 minutes. I loved it so much, I made a second one (in wedding colors, of course).

Come back tomorrow to see it in action.

Three Little Facts

IMG_7083

worn on November 1st, 2011

I seem to be having another one of those days with nothing to say. So instead,  today I will link up to Rebecca’s (of Rebecca with an R) 3 little facts.

Photobucket

driving: I don’t have a drivers license. I never have, actually. Driving scares the living daylights out of me, and I never made it past my learners permit. Boo seems to think that one day, when we have kids, I will have to get my license. I say - hire a driver.

high school: I never played any sports as a kid. None. I’m completely uncoordinated. I was, however, a member of Art Alive, an editor of Yearbook Committee, and secretary of my  senior class.  And I played viola in our school orchestra.

heritage: I’m part Lebanese. But mostly Irish. And also German.

Pizza, Bowling, And The First Snowfall

worn on October 29th, 2011

I loved this outfit. It was so comfy and casual and chill.

Earlier in the day, Boo and I ran a few errands. Nothing exciting, really. And then in the evening, as the snow started to come down, we headed out for pizza and candlepin bowling with some of Boo’s coworkers. A splendid night, ending with a little snowball fight in the street - of course.

Happy Halloween

IMG_6630

worn on October 28th, 2011

Happy halloween everyone!

I didn’t have a costume this year, but I figured I could still infuse a little halloween spirit into an outfit. So I pulled out my bat tights from last year, made a bat for my hair, and tried to get my hair all big and frizzy (for that crazy effect). And I did blood splatter nails! I may have gotten nail polish all over the place in the process, but I love how they came out.

did you dress up for halloween this year? How did you show your halloween spirit?

Lazy Sunday

IMG_6324

worn on October 23rd, 2011

Boo and I originally had big plans for sunday. Plans to head into the city, visit the Sowa Market, explore, etc. But then we woke up…. and we were a bit too lazy for any of that. So instead, we kept it simple. We went out for a yummy yummy brunch, headed to the park for photos, and then spent the rest of the afternoon with our butts parked on the couch and a DVR full of shows.

And I loved it.

Bright Lights, Big City

Unfortunately, this is the only other outfit shots from our time in NYC. We took one other set, but they didn’t turn out as good as I would like. Hopefully I’ll remember to re-create that outfit soon. Its unfortunate because I remixed the heck out of the few items I packed.

But on to this outfit. After finding my dress the day before, we headed to Mood to find fabric to make my veil. I must say, its very me, and I’m just as excited about it as the dress! Hint - it maaaay involves polka dots and bows. Of course.

p.s - I’ve taken outfit photos in public before. But in the middle of a busy NYC sidewalk? thats a first.

p.p.s - Thanks again seester for taking my photos!

Finding The Perfect Dress

IMG_5935

worn on October 16th, 2011

This is what I wore on our first full day in NYC, which was also the day of my first (and turns out only!) bridal gown appointment. After trying on only six gowns at my first appointment, I decided on ‘the one’, and ended up canceling my other appointments. I was pretty impressed with myself - I really thought I would have to try on a lot more! For those of you that are married / getting married, how long did it take you to find your perfect dress?

(And then I snuck in a couple outfit photos in the salon. Obvs.)

In My Life : NYC

Happy friday, everyone! I’m back from my trip to NYC for wedding dress shopping, and I thought I would share just a few snapshots of what we did:

(L) This is NOT my dress. I repeat: this is NOT my dress. No one is going to see that one until July ;). But it is one that I tried on. I was really digging the fabric texture and detail. Sorry, this as close as any of you are going to get to seeing my dress or any of the other ones I tried on.

(R) I’m not just saying this because I’m a Daniel Radcliffe fan - How to Succeed in Business was absolutely brilliant. And I would recommend anyone see it (preferably before Dan’s run is over).

(L) With my seester and momma out to dinner!

(R) A visit to Mood Fabrics (oh, how I missed them) to find fabric for my headpiece/veil.

(L) Ooooooooh, my favorite new york bagel with pumpkin cream cheese. I have dreams about this bagel, people. I cannot go to NYC without stopping to get one. Reminds me of my time at FIT :)

(R) A rainy train ride back to Boston.
