DIY Hair Arrows

Supplies:

-thin wooden dowels, cut to aprox 9 - 9 1/2 inches long

-pencil sharpener

-silver paint or marker

-washi tape

-feathers

-glue

1. Use a pencil sharpener to shape the “tips” of your arrows. Don’t go all the way and make it too pointy! We don’t want it to be sharp and dangerous.

2. Use your silver paint or marker to paint the tips.

3. The fun part - decorating your arrows! You can just as easily paint the sticks, but I chose to wrap mine in wash tape.

4. Take your feathers, and cut along one side of the center part (if that makes sense). Cut as close to the middle as possible, without nipping that center part. This will ruin one side of the feather, but allow you to use the other side. Cut extras, just in case!

4. Ok, so this part proved trickier than I thought. Glueing the feathers to the stick. At first, I was just using a mode podge like glue - which was kind of holding the feathers, but not that well. I eventually ended up using super glue to fully secure them, after using the mode podge first to get them in place. And I did 3 feathers per stick, but you could just do 2, if you’d like.

That’s it! Pull up your hair into a messy bun, and stick your arrows in there!

Lavender Brown

IMG_2970

I’ve recently become crazy obsessed with anything lavender/lilac/light purple in color. It’s funny - when I was younger, I wouldn’t have hesitated to tell you that my favorite color was purple. But I think I may have loved it too much as a kid, because I spent most of my college and adult life avoiding it. It’s like hot dogs. I ate a lot of hot dogs as a kid. A lot. Especially cut up hot dogs in mac and cheese- that was my jam. But I can’t go near the things now without gagging a little.

Ok, maybe that was a bad comparison. But you get the point.

P.S - Have you entered the Seams To Be giveaway yet? Hurry! It is ending soon!

On sunday, Boo and I took a little impromptu outing for some pizza (and outfit pictures, of course). I ended up getting my pizza with apple butter, apples, and feta. Oh, so yuuuuuum. I’m officially a fan of apple butter on pizza. Have you ever had it? It is DELICIOUS.

Zombie-fied

IMG_2014_2

I know I know, Halloween was so last week. It felt like it lasted forever, and here I am - dragging it out more. But I was so proud of our zombie bride and groom costumes, I couldn’t help but share!

I’m convinced Boo could actually play an extra on The Walking Dead.

A Visit to Vizio Optic

IMG_1000

IMG_1001

Recently, I was invited to come in and visit the wonderful people at Vizio Optic in Brookline, MA. As a lover of cute eyewear, and a fan of local business, I jumped at the opportunity!

You see, Vizio isn’t one of those basic, boring eyewear shops. They have high end, unique, fashion forward frames. Don’t get me wrong, you can definitely get some amazing, simple, black frames here. But, if you arelooking for something really different - maybe a crazy frame shape. Or maybe you want a more basic frame shape, but in a bright, bold hot pink. Vizio has you covered no matter how bold you wanna go.

Another upside - they do good. When you buy eyeglasses at Vizio, they give a pair of frames to someone in need. Amazing, right?

IMG_0987

The only downside - the price. These frames are high end. And the prices reflects that. But, if you wear glasses (and wear them every.single.day like I do), it could definitely be worth it. I’ve never seen anything like what I saw here. The colors! The prints! The shapes! A couple of the frames I tried on are now on my christmas wish list, for sure :)

So, if you live in the Boston area and are looking for a new pair of glasses (or sunglasses!), I definitely recommend a visit to Vizio. Not from the area? They also have an online store, and ship internationally! Check them out :)

These were some of my favorites! Especially these, these, and these (I also really love these)…….

And then, of course, there were these bad boys…….

Happy Halloween!!

I know a lot of you dressed up this past weekend, but Boo and I actually have a costume party this upcoming weekend. So I will have to wait a little longer to share my costume with you all, but I can’t wait!

As for tonight, it will consist of hot chocolate, candy, and creepy TV.

What are your plans tonight?

P.S - Didn’t Boo do an awesome job with these photos?! He really got into this shoot - picking the location and playing the role of photographer. Thanks BooBoo!! :)
