On My List - Crop Tops

crop_tops

 ——————————————— one - two - three - four - five - six - seven - eight ————————————————

I have a thing for cropped tops. I know, I know - everyone has an opinion about this trend. But as long as I am covered up everywhere else (high waists and low hems), I feel perfectly comfortable. And I’m not just ok with this trend, I am obsessed with it. In fact, I already own a few of the above tops, and I guarantee you’ll be seeing them soon.

It’s funny, I never thought I would be all for bringing back the 90’s. But here I am - coveting crop tops, high waisted jeans, and overalls. I know, I can’t believe it either.

Handmade

Ever since I started making weekly garments for Design Diary, it has also motivated me to tackle projects in my own to-do pile. The pattern and fabric for this dress has been sitting around for quite some time now, and I finally got around to putting it together. It might be a little late in the season to be making a plaid, flannel dress. But at least the bright colors make up for it and make it spring appropriate.

And now I’m even more excited to finish more garments in my project pile!

Stay tuned.

The North End-er

northend1

It’s April, you guys! And I’ve officially sworn off tights. Even if the breeze still gives my bare legs goosebumps.

Boo and I took full advantage of the nicer weather this weekend. We walked up and down the streets of the North End, grabbed Italian for lunch (and canollis for snack), sat by the waterfront and watched the sailboats, packed some sandwiches and headed to the park, chased around some ducks and geese, and had a few cups of Starbucks. Phew, that was a lot. But I’m really excited to have a whole lot more weekends like this one this spring and summer. Fo realz.

How was your weekend?

I don’t usually wear blazers. But after putting on this outfit, I’m not sure why. I may be a blazer person now.

» This week on Megan Nielsen Design Diary, it was all about scallops : a scallop tutorial, a scalloped hem, and a scalloped collar (above).

» The winners of the Firmoo giveaway have been announced and notified!

» Are you fashion or style blogger in the Boston / New England area? Have you gotten your ticket to the Blog Better Boston : Style Summit yet? You should get on that! It’s going to be a pretty awesome day :)

» Amanda of Indie Jane recently featured my outfit in her “things I love" post, and also introduce me to these teas. They have collections based around the Harry Potter and Hunger Games characters. And now I think I need all of them.

» In other news : there is still snow on the ground, and I am listening to JT’s 20/20 Experience on repeat (like everyone else on the planet, I’m pretty sure).

Scalloped

This skirt is my latest project for Megan Nielsen Design Diary. But I was pretty much in love with the skirt and this outfit, so I thought I would share it here too. It’s the Kelly Skirt pattern, with a scalloped hem variation. You can see my scallop tutorial here, and this outfit over at Design Diary here. Hop on over and take a peek!
