That Dress I Made That One Time

worn on July 4th, 2011

Ok, so I wasn’t originally going to show you guys my engagement photo outfits until I could show you the actual photos. But seeing as it will be weeks until then, and that I’m just a teensy bit impatient, I figured I could show you one of the two outfits.

This one is actually the dress that I made, and gave you a sneak peek of a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE the way it came out - the fit ended up being perfect. Plus, not only was it exactly what I wanted for the photos, but I also managed to get in a little blue and red(ok - red/orangeish) for the fourth.

Bonus - Kathryn of Kitsune-kun made this dress too! go see her version here.

Can you tell I desperately needed to get my bangs cut by this point? Don’t worry (because I know you were), I got it done the next day.

After a yummy breakfast at our local Earls, Boo and I hung out with our brothers and my oldest friend- we met on our very first day of kindergarden! So, we did some swimming, ate some delicious food, reminisced, then headed down to the Sardinia Carnival. Games, taffy, and fireworks were the perfect ending to the night.

First Day Home

worn on June 30th, 2011

I’ve always wanted to take railroad photos, but there really isn’t a good place to do it near us here in Boston. But I had an ‘Ah Ha’ moment when we got home, knowing there was a perfect spot right down the road.

Anywho, to tell you the truth - we didn’t do much this day. We spent a lot of the day relaxing at home, because we didn’t get in until 2am the night before. I did manage to get out for a Tim Hortons Iced Capp though. Thats essential.

Just a peek

Hi everyone! I’m back in Boston now and getting settled back into routine. I’ll be returning with outfit posts tomorrow, but (as usual) I thought I would share a few photos from the trip home.

Guest Blogger: Kate from O My Heart!

Hey everyone! I’m spending a little time at home for the holiday, as well as some wedding related activities. So in the meantime, I have some awesome guest bloggers lined up for you!

Today, we have Kate from O My Heart!, and her adorable work-wear :)

Hi lovely HollyDolly readers! My name is Kate and I run a personal style blog called O My Heart! Sweet Holly asked me to come entertain you guys for today while she is off for an extended 4th of July weekend! I live in Canada, so our Holiday was actually July 1st - Canada Day! Hoorah for long weekends all around though, I hope you all enjoyed yours!

I generally work from home, but every once in a while I head to the main office for the day. This was one of those days, so I thought I would capture my ‘wear to work’ outfit. I ended up hiding under a cardigan for most of the day though, due to the freeeeezing office air conditioning!

Thanks so much to Holly for having me & to all of you for reading!!

……..

Thank you Kate!

Hey everyone! I’m spending a little time at home for the holiday, as well as some wedding related activities. So in the meantime, I have some awesome guest bloggers lined up for you!

Next up, we have Rebecca from RebeccawithanR, and her pinspired outfit :)

……….

Hiya friends! I’m Rebecca from RebeccawithanR. I’m so excited to be visiting here on HollyDolly. And isn’t Holly just that? Such a doll!

So, can I get a show of hands here.. Who has a Pinterest account? Ah, yes. That’s a fair amount. (Those who don’t have one and would like one, let me know and I’ll send you an invite! I love sharing. Sharing is caring.) I’m a little bit in love with using it to store outfit inspiration. This outfit was a dreary weather interpretation of this. She looks way cuter but I sure felt great on that rainy day!

Top: H&M, Jacket: Nordstrom, Trench: Target, Shorts: Delias, Boots: Hunters, Jewelry: Kohls

My inner hippie decided not to wear makeup that day. My inner hippie also doesn’t like to wear bras, but I don’t think the general public would appreciate that. Is that TMI for a guest poster to share? Let’s rectify that. Hop on over here, and don’t be a stranger!

Thank you Rebecca!

Guest Blogger: Linda from Little Tin Soldier

Hey everyone! I’m spending a little time at home for the holiday, as well as some wedding related activities. So in the meantime, I have some awesome guest bloggers lined up for you!

First up, we have Linda from Little Tin Soldier, and her patriotic attire :)

Good morning! I’m Linda from Little Tin Soldier, a style blog that showcases my outfits and matching paper dolls. Today you can call me Miss Fourth of July (as long as I get strawberry shortcake and french fries).

Holly and I both enjoy sewing and making accessories. One of my favorite books is Built by Wendy Dresses. It comes with patterns and tips on sewing buttonholes to necklines to zippers. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in making a dress!
When Holly told me that my guest blog would publish on a very star spangled holiday, I knew exactly what to wear. I made the skirt last year; I break it out on holidays such as today and Election Day, and sometimes just for fun. Sewing opens you up to many possibilities; resembling a flag is just one of them. Enjoy your day with family, friends, and fireworks!

Silk top: Banana Republic
Skirt: Handmade
Flats: Lela Rose for Payless

Its My (Blogs) Birthday!

worn on June 26th, 2011

Its a birthday! Woo hoo! Last year, on July 1st, I started this blog. Granted, for the first few months, I used for what most people use their tumblogs for- reblogging and posting pretty pictures. But then I came across a few of my first style blogs, and it was love at first sight. And now we are here today!

Las weekend, Boo and I took a little trip to the North End. We got some treats at Mike’s Pastry (of course) and then sat for a good long while by the water, staring out at some of the boats. It was such a gorgeous, relaxing day!

P.S - this post might be a bit of a photo overload, but its my (blogs) birthday, and I’ll do what I want to :)

P.P.S - come back in just a couple of hours - I have a little surprise!!
