DVF Makes Me Happy

January 22nd, 2011

sweater and yellow tights: Urban Outfitters, black tights: ?, skirt: Diane von Furstenberg, scarf: Target, shoes: Steve Madden

Worn For: Boo and I didn’t do friday date night this week, so we decided to go into the city saturday for a movie (No Strings Attached - hilarious) and dinner.

There is a good story behind this skirt. Well, at least, it makes me happy. In the summer of 2008 I did a design internship at the Diane von Fursteberg studio in NYC. On my very first day there was a DVF sample sale going on. MY boss told me and the other intern to go ahead and take a long lunch and go shop the sample sale. “And oh, don’t forget to tell them you are an intern here.” What we realized when we got there, is that, not only is everything already way cheaper because it is a sample sale, but employees got an even cheaper deal - any item for $25. Thats right, no matter what the item was, it was $25. I.was.in.heaven. I mean, my first day of work and I was out shopping and getting the employee discount. Sweet.

So, this DVF skirt - $25. Yeah. I’ve worn some of the other things I got that day on this blog, I just never thought to mention that story. But that was a good day.

Hey There Sports Fan

January 20th 2011

sweater: Gap via Buffalo Exchange, shorts: Express, tights: Urban Outfitters, shoes: Steve Madden

Worn For: The Sabres are in Boston tonight! So you know what that means - obligatory sabres outfit post. I haven’t worn a Sabies outfit in awhile, so its about time. No, those are not two toned tights, I am actually wearing two different pairs. Don’t ask how, but some how I managed. Lets just say if I were to lift up my sweater, you would see the other two legs tied around my waist. And now I am realizing just how weird that is. Preeeeetty crazy, I am.

Now, I am off to the game, which means I will be missing the big swap. Boo. But I will be seeing my babies play. Yay! And yes, this is what I am wearing to the game. Minus the heels (I have a no heels at hockey games rule). So add some boots and a jersey, and you got my game outfit!

Lets go Sabes!!!!

Meh. But I do like bow ties.

sweater: Anthropologie, tee and pants: Gap, necklace: HollyDoll, hat: Express Men’s (Boo’s), shoes: Keds via Buffalo Exchange

Worn For: Lounging, Sewing, Cleaning.

I have not been happy with the last few outfit posts. Especially these ones. Eh. Maybe its the unwashed hair (shhhhhh), or that I’m wearing my glasses (I never wear them in photos), or that I forgot to take my mittens off when I decided there was no way I was stepping outside for pictures (it was cold and I was a baby), or maybe its that I took indoor pictures (which I hate). You know, it could be a number of these things.

But enough complaining! Kendi has announced that the next 30 for 30 challenge will begin Feb 1st. I thought about it, and at first I wasn’t going to do it. It feels like I just finished the last one and am finally getting re-aquatinted with my closet. I really started to miss all my clothes about halfway through the challenge. Buuuuuut, I think I AM going to do it. I learned a lot from the last one, which will help me better pick my items this time. I’m excited!

The Mystery Of My Missing Right Hand

Worn on January 16th, 2011

sweater: Express (mens), skirt: American Apparel, Earmuffs: Forever21, purse: Michael Kors, boots: Vince Camuto, necklace: gift from my momma

Worn For: Galavanting around the city for the day.

My BFF Ashleebear got me these earmuffs for christmas. Aren’t they super duper adorable? It kind of began most of the outfit - I just started adding purple where I could. I had a big lavender bib necklace on too, but it seemed a little much.

P.S- has anyone seen my right hand? I seem to have lost it? Awkward.

Crafting and Watercolors

January 14th, 2011

dress and tights: Anthropologie, wedges: Christian Louboutin, Scarf: gift from my momma, watch: Fossil

Worn For: a day of more sewing and date night.

It was one of those days where I was cold sitting inside, so I was being a baby and refused to go outside for photos. So meet Milly (sewing machine), and Rex (serger). Like I said, I’ve been working on some new stuff for my etsy shop, so hopefully by the end of the weekend I can slowly start putting some of it up. So stay tuned.

For date night this week, Boo and I went to Finale in Harvard Square. They are all about their desserts, and I got the Molten Chocolate Cake and a White Hot Chocolate (with a hint of orange). It was delicious. The End.

Happy Weekend!!
